Scholarships at GGBCF

The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation administers more than 100 scholarships annually.

Through the generosity of our donors, scholarship awards range from $500 to $40,000 and are based on a variety of criteria — from need, academics or planned major, to volunteer service, athletic participation or commitment to the community.

Scholarships are awarded primarily to students in northeast Wisconsin pursuing a technical college or university degree.

With one online application, students are in the running for all eligible Community Foundation awards.

Coach Earl (Mike) Miller Scholarship

Growing up in Chilton, Wisconsin Coach Miller served with the 98th infantry division in World War II and later obtained his undergraduate degree from St. Norbert College in 1949 and his first of two masters degree from UW Madison in 1954.

In 1954, he joined the staff at West High School. He was appointed as the head football coach at West in 1971 and served in that role until 1986.  As head coach, he achieved four consecutive Fox River Valley Conference championships with two consecutive undefeated seasons. His teams participated in the W.I.A.A. football playoffs in 1981, '82 and '83 and almost went to the state championship in 1983.

He was named Fox River Valley Conference coach of the year three times and was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1992.

Off the football field, folks throughout Coach Miller's life have actively sought his leadership skills. He served for years as a local alderman on the Green Bay City Council.
