What is the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation?
The Greater Green Bay Community
Foundation, Inc. is a
non-profit corporation overseen by a local, volunteer
board
of directors. The Community Foundation, a public charity,
is
a collaboration of over 500 charitable funds established by
individuals, non-profit organizations,
and corporations. Today,
these funds are valued at more than $52
million.
The Community Foundation creates a community of
donors,
people who care about the needs of the community, and
those who take
action to meet these needs while improving
the quality of life in the area.
Where is the Community Foundation located?
Our offices are located at 310 West Walnut Street,
Suite 350, Green Bay,
Wisconsin.
We are on the third floor
of the M&I bank building at the corner of Broadway
and Walnut.
A grant from the Community Foundation to the Green Bay Botanical Garden helped local
students have the opportunity for hands-on learning at the Garden.
What areas does the Greater Green Bay Community
Foundation serve?
We serve Brown, Kewaunee, and Oconto counties in Northeast Wisconsin.
We also serve Door County, Wisconsin through our affiliate, the Door County
Community Foundation, Inc.
How was the Community Foundation established?
The Community Foundation was established by a group of community minded
professionals in 1991.
Mission Statement of the Greater Green Bay
Community Foundation, Inc.
The Mission of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, Inc. is to
aid, develop and enhance the quality of life for the community and its
citizens. It fulfills that objective by:
- serving donors by providing a flexible and responsive
vehicle for their charitable interests.
- using
its resources wisely and efficiently through sensitive and creative grants
addressing the emerging and changing needs of the community in the areas
of the arts, education, health and human services, the youth and
elderly, and resource conservation and preservation.
- demonstrating community leadership by
acting as a catalyst in identifying community needs and opportunities
and sharing information with other foundations, corporations and
organizations, both private and non-profit, to shape effective responses
to those needs.
- acting as a responsible solicitor and
prudent manager of philanthropic assets created by charitable gifts and
bequests.
