Greater Green Bay Community Foundation surpasses $200 million granted across Northeast Wisconsin

Community investments, collaborative initiatives help drive grantmaking to new heights

April 3, 2024 – The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and its donors continue to invest heavily in our community. The Foundation distributed more than $100 million in the past seven years alone to surpass $200 million granted to nonprofit programs and initiatives throughout its 33-year history.

The acceleration is largely due to increased investment in the collective efforts of the Foundation to strengthen communities across Northeast Wisconsin. Investments are made through various giving tools including unrestricted gifts, planned gifts, the activity of 350 donor-advised funds, and newly established programs like Give BIG Green Bay and the Nonprofit Impact Initiative. Grants distributed from these investments provide resources to advance educational opportunities, preserve the environment, enhance well-being, fulfill basic needs, and foster creativity and connection through arts and culture, among other community initiatives.

Over the last three decades, the Foundation has provided funding to support the important work of nonprofits and provide leadership to help shape collective community efforts like Achieve Brown County, Wello, and the Greater Green Bay Blueprint to Prevent and End Homelessness. This ongoing collaborative work of the Foundation and its partners continues to generate a positive impact on our community.

“We celebrate the investments that have strengthened our community while also recognizing the challenges and needs of our community continue to evolve,” said Amber Paluch, Senior Vice President of Community Impact.” By supporting the work of our nonprofit organizations and bringing the community together around solutions, we are collectively building a community in which everyone can thrive.”

As the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation looks forward, amplifying community needs and providing new tools for people to come together around those issues will be a focus.

“We are intentional in our efforts to better understand the issues impacting our community, and identify what tools are needed to make a difference. By working with the people closest to the issues, we can connect people, ideas, and resources for a greater impact,” said Dennis Buehler, President and CEO. “The next step for us is to share this information more broadly so everyone can participate in shaping our future.”

As part of its mission, the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation provides opportunities for nonprofits, donors, businesses, and other philanthropies to be part of long-term solutions to our community’s biggest issues. As a central connection point, and an advocate, the Community Foundation is growing the greater good. And we are all stronger for it.
