Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay reaches $1,000,000 granted
October 14, 2019 – The Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay, a fund of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, has granted more than $1,000,000 to empower women and inspire girls in our community. This milestone was achieved as part of the recently awarded grants to local nonprofit programs.
Grants are awarded from the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay based on a competitive application process including review by a team of community volunteers. The Women’s Fund expanded the grants policy in 2018 to consider programs for boys and men that relate to healthy relationships and support women and girls.

In its most recent grant cycle the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay awarded nine grants totaling more than $51,000 to the following programs and initiatives:
Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay, Girls on the Run
Over a 10-week session, girls ages 9-13 will join positive adult female mentors in biweekly after-school group run/walks infused with lessons from the international Girls on the Run curriculum. Over the course of the program, girls will increase their physical endurance as they develop self-confidence and important life skills, leading up to participation in an organized 5K run.

CASA of Brown County, Sex Trafficking Training for CASA Youth & Advocates
CASA of Brown County will host an evening of discussion and training on human trafficking for participants and advocates in the Fostering Futures program, a program that provides youth ages 12 to 18 with the tools to assist them in transitioning to independence and realizing their full potential.

Foundations Health & Wholeness, Group Support for Women Experiencing Homelessness & Trauma
Foundations partners with homeless shelters to provide mental health counseling to address mental illness as a root cause of homelessness. The group addresses mental wellness, trauma, and alcohol and other drug addiction.

Golden House, Prevention Education
To help young adults prevent victimization in their intimate partner relationships, Golden House will provide evidence-based and innovative relationship-building programming. The Prevention Coordinator will help youth and community partners understand the dynamics of abusive relationships and gain skills that encourage healthy relationships.

Greater Green Bay YMCA, Girls in Non-Traditional Careers
The Green Bay YMCA has after-school programs at seven sites in partnership with Green Bay Area Public Schools. Funds provide programming for fourth- and fifth-grade girls, offering them exposure to nontraditional careers with an emphasis on careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields.

Green Bay Area Public Schools, Personal Care Worker Certification Course
Funding will offer 25 women who have not obtained a high school diploma or GED with the opportunity to participate in a Personal Care Worker Certification course through Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

House of Hope Green Bay, Transportation Barrier Removal for Pregnant and Parenting Homeless Youth
House of Hope will work with clients to overcome transportation barriers by providing: a House of Hope van for transportation to appointments and other business, bus passes, assistance obtaining identifying documentation and driver licenses, and access to safe car seats for transporting children.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Educational Foundation, Destination Graduation
Destination Graduation is a pilot program focused on inspiring low-income women to uncover their career passion and achieve a college degree to obtain a family-sustaining career that leads to economic stability. This project will target low-income (unemployed/underemployed) women who have some college experience but no degree.

Reset Life, RESET.LIFE 2019
Funding will support Life Coaching and Career Coaching workshops, providing comprehensive support to women facing a life or career transition. Reset Life offers women a safe place to discuss the problems that are unique to women among others who can relate, empathize and provide valuable help.
