$37,600 awarded through the Crime Prevention Foundation to support a safer Brown County

October 29, 2026 – The Crime Prevention Foundation, a fund of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, awarded $37,600 through its annual grant cycle. The awards support the efforts of 14 nonprofit initiatives designed to promote safety, foster personal development, and address the root causes of harmful or unsafe behavior.

Crime Prevention Foundation grants are awarded based on a competitive application process, which includes review by a grants team of community volunteers. Each cycle, the Community Foundation invites its fundholders to co-invest in grant applications that align with their giving goals. This year, fundholders contributed $7,600 to increase available grant dollars and help meet the growing needs of our community.

2026 Crime Prevention Foundation grants were awarded to the following organizations:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin: Funds will support the organization’s one-to-one youth mentoring program in Brown County, especially efforts to recruit male mentors for Little Brothers, who make up the majority of the waitlist.
  • Boys & Girls Club of the Bay and Lakes Region: Funds will support pop-up barber shops, offering free haircuts to Club members throughout the school year, and opportunities for youth members to explore careers in the beauty industry.
  • Brown County Jail Ministries: Funding supports the Reentry and Crime Prevention Coordination Initiative, which aims to reduce recidivism, strengthen community reintegration, and contribute to a safer Brown County.
  • Casa ALBA Melanie Hispanic Resource Center: In coordination with Green Bay Police, funds will help launch a bilingual, community-focused campaign that aims to raise awareness of OWI consequences.
