More than $400,000 in scholarships awarded to students
June 5, 2023 – Eighty-nine students were awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships through the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation to pursue post-secondary education.
The Community Foundation stewards 50 scholarship funds on behalf of donors wishing to support scholars in their education. Scholarships are awarded based on a variety of criteria, from need, academics or planned major, to volunteer service, athletic participation, or commitment to the community.
Students selected to receive scholarships come from a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
“Many students persevered in the face of adversity whether it was having a parent battling cancer, arriving to the United States as a refugee, or balancing multiple jobs,” said Kari Olsen, Director of Grants and Scholarship Programming at the Community Foundation. “Even while attending high school during the COVID-19 pandemic, they still committed themselves to serving others. In fact, this year’s scholarship recipients completed an astounding 14,200 hours of community service.”
The Community Foundation updates its website each year on December 1 with information about scholarships for the following academic year. Area students, teachers, and school counselors are encouraged to learn more about the scholarships offered at ggbcf.org/students and reach out with any questions.
