U.S. Olympic ice hockey star to speak at 2018 Power of the Purse Luncheon
During her successful career with the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team, Ruggiero wore the USA jersey in more games than any other man or woman in USA Hockey history. In addition to her incredible athletic talent, Ruggiero graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, where she was a four-time All American and national champion. She also earned her M.Ed. from the University of Minnesota in Sports Management and her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Professionally, Ruggiero is the CEO of Sports Innovation Lab, the first market research company focused on the intersection of sports and technology. She’s also a member of the International Olympic Committee, authored an autobiography called “Breaking the Ice,” and was featured on season six of NBC’s hit TV show, “The Apprentice.”
The Power of the Purse luncheon is the primary fundraising event for the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay, which raises money to help support leadership and self-esteem initiatives for local women and girls. Since the inception of the Women’s Fund, more than $2.5 million has been raised, and over $725,000 granted to more than 80 initiatives and programs in our community.
The event on September 20 includes a popular silent auction of high-end purses, a raffle, and an engaging program about the impact being made in our local community through the grants awarded from the Women’s Fund. Women and men are encouraged to attend to learn more about the Women’s Fund cause of empowering women and inspiring girls in our community.
