$180,500 awarded to address poverty in Northeast Wisconsin
Support includes $150,000 to help close critical gaps in housing and childcare
December 18, 2023 – The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation awarded $180,500 in grants through Stand Together Foundation’s annual grants cycle. The awards lend support to six nonprofit programs and initiatives working to address poverty and its root causes in Brown, Kewaunee, and Oconto counties.
The Stand Together Foundation, part of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation’s family of funds, has awarded $1.5 million since 2018 to fund measurable strategies to move people from the brink of poverty to a place of economic stability and self-sufficiency.
Recipients of a 2023 Stand Together Foundation grant are:
Encompass Early Education | Oconto Falls Childcare & Family Support: The forthcoming Encompass Center in Oconto Falls will address a lack of high-quality affordable childcare and workforce due to the need for childcare. This grant supports the renovation of an existing building to create space for one-on-one support for children and families.
Golden House | Domestic Violence Homicide Prevention & Response: Funds provide support for a dedicated position t focused on domestic violence homicide prevention and response across Northeast Wisconsin, as a response to the increased number of fatalities related to domestic abuse. The position will implement new initiatives and create programming to support victims, their families, and friends in the wake of a homicide.
Kewaunee County Department of Health & Human Services | Wraparound Support: Kewaunee County Human Services is creating a safe and affordable housing option for families. Many of the families served by the agency are struggling with deep-rooted poverty and inconsistanly have their r basic needs met., . The agency will wrap around the individuals residing in the home to fully support their needs and put them on a path to self-suffiency
The Gateway Collective | Socially Inclusive Housing: The Gateway Collective develops affordable and holistic socially inclusive housing. Grant funding will support the City Center Lofts project in downtown Green Bay.
Veterans 1st of NEW | Tiny Homes Village: Funding will be used to build 13 tiny homes and a community center for programming for veterans.
We All Rise: African American Resource Center | All Seasons Transformation: Funding will support All Seasons Transformation, a 49-bed transitional living facility for men who are experiencing a transition in their lives.
